Betting the Super Bowl, Earnings and the Perfect Pairs Trade

We hit the airwaves again Friday for another edition of Crush the Open — be sure and join us at 9 a.m. ET on Monday for a new week of earnings trade chatter! We’ve been CRUSHING earnings plays the past couple of weeks, so you can’t afford to miss the show!

We touched on several topics on Friday’s show, including my thoughts on how to bet the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles favored to win by 1 ½. And I even gave a cool parlay bet that I made, a golf and NFL mix, and prop bets that I’d avoid.

Crush the Open

As far as stocks, we covered Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UBER) earnings on Monday, and the rideshare giant delivered a big number, bouncing from $33.50 to start the week to as high as $37.27 after reporting.

If you’ve been following along for some time, then you likely know that pairs trading is one of my specialties…

For the uninitiated, pairs trading is a complex strategy that requires a deep understanding of the markets, as well as the stocks being traded. You take two cousin or related stocks, one long and one short, with the assumption that one company is going to eat the other’s lunch… Like one stock is the bully beating up the other and taking its market share.

And I’ve done a pairs trade setup before, going long Uber and short Lyft, that I’m going to revisit again. It’s the perfect setup. Uber’s coming off its best earnings ever, and its long-term goal is to put Lyft out of business.

Lyft, meanwhile, has seen better days…

Shares of Lyft Inc. (Nasdaq: LYFT) fell over 36% on Friday, the worst one-day drop since its IPO in 2019, after an unexpected quarterly loss.

Think about it like this…

Nobody says “Let’s Lyft.” They say “Let’s Uber.”

“To Uber” is now a verb, and once you get that kind of name recognition and a word becomes a verb in U.S. vernacular, it’s game over. That company is golden. So get your pairs trading on and take a look at Uber-Lyft.

Check out Friday’s episode of Crush the Open up top and we’ll get into more stock like DraftKings Inc. (Nasdaq: DKNG), which has earnings next week, Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE), PayPal Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: PYPL) and other fun banter…

And we’ll see you bright and early at 9 a.m. ET on Monday to cover next week’s top earnings plays!

P.S. The Next Global Crisis is Already Underway

Oil prices are on the rise and I just issued my most dire warning yet!

You have to see this…

Not only could this event affect you and your wealth…

But the stars are aligning for a global energy crisis, unlike anything the world has ever seen…

And it’s set to happen as soon as this winter.

Billionaire investors like Warren Buffet, Bill Cohen, Carl Ichan, Ray Dalio, and Larry Fink are already on the move – betting BIG on what might come next.

This is extremely time-sensitive — and the time to prepare is now.

Don’t get left out in the cold.
